Traditional Foster Care
The County of San Diego is the primary source of referrals for children in need of care. Often, these children have just recently been removed from their home and are awaiting a more appropriate placement. Due to the traumatic circumstances in their lives, they are in need of a more structured environment in order to begin the healing process. Parents provide placement in their home, ranging from days, weeks, or years.
By opening your heart to these children, you are allowing a child the opportunity to live in a single family home environment as opposed to a group home setting. Often these children would not otherwise have the experience of being a part of a family. |

Intensive Treatment Foster Care- I.T.F.C.
This innovative program serves children who have significant emotional challenges. These children would need residential or a higher level of care without the support of an Intensive Treatment Foster Care Home. I.T.F.C. parents complete a comprehensive, 60 hour training as part of the pre-certification process. The program provides in-home support and respite services. Parents receive a higher reimbursement rate due to the higher level of care and supervision required by the child placed in their home.
